We have a lot of new plans we're working on after the enforced purgatory of the pandemic. A tour next year featuring new pieces by Tunde Yegede, Renell Shaw and our old friend Orphy Robinson - plus a filmed version of a new World Premiere by Steve Reich. Instead of 'watch this space' you can look at Ringo until further developments are revealed.....
We recently did a series of workshops and mini concerts at the beautiful old Wolford Mill at Wimborne in Dorset. Click here to find out more…
We've had a long association with the wonderfully unique UK composer Peter McGarr. Over the many inactive months of the pandemic we hatched a plan for Peter to write us a piece which we would then release as a short film. Please click the button below to watch another of Peter's brilliantly idiosyncratic pieces - 'The Acoustics of Morecambe Bay'.
Have a look on our YouTube channel for the 'one minute with...' series. These short videos are demos of some of the lesser known percussion instruments - at least to non percussionists. We're aiming to add one a week for the foreseeable future. Any requests? Let us know!
We were made to feel very welcome at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama........
Nice review from our gig at the RWCMD - thanks Cath Barton and Welsh Arts Review.
A very enjoyable gig in Colchester for the Roman River Festival this month. We filmed it all with varying results - a camera on a box is never going to be Scorsese. Still, this piece came out very well - the second performance of our latest commission 'CRACK' by Tom Gimson.
Simon Limbrick wrote us a lovely piece called 'Mopti Street' based on Malian Kora themes. Our recording of it on 'Damba Moon' was subsequently remixed by the great Banco De Gaia and features in this retrospective of his work from Hungarian radio station Bambuszradio. We're about six minutes in......
“This was one of the best new music gigs (and presentations) seen and heard in a long time.” - a great review from @allaboutjazz from our recent gig in York. Glad to say that we’re “frequently vigorous” and have “confrontational energy” - but don’t take our word for it….
After several months of sporadic rehearsals we finally performed our first concert with the marvellous percussion students at Guildhall......
We played at the lovely Old Court in Windsor in a family gig for all those bored half-termers. The gig was, of course, a great success. The shaky photo was taken just before we went on. We were shaking with excitement, not nerves.
It was our first residency workshop this week and we brought the instruments in our pockets....
We're extremely delighted to announce that we'll be Artists in Residence at Guildhall School of Music and Drama for the next three years....
We'll be doing a headlining set at the Royal College of Music's Festival of Percussion along with Mark Giuliani and the Band of the Coldstream Guards
Welcome to the new Ensemble Bash site! With a change of site comes a change of membership.....
