It was our first residency workshop this week and we brought the instruments in our pockets. We took the students through the piece 'Chew Chow Chatterbox' written for us by the great Stephen Montague. This is a theatrical piece with nonsense dialogue, duelling chopsticks, a pan fight and fraught interpersonal relationships. We saw some magnificent new interpretations, many broken chopsticks and, luckily, no life threatening injuries.
